The starting and ending points for this beautiful journey are Bynea and Pembrey Country Park. As the path stretches for 13 miles, there are several places where you can begin or finish, depending on your preferred route or the level of intensity you want for your walk. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing stroll with your dog or a walk with opportunities for food and drinks, the Millennium Coastal Path offers it all.
Where to start?
Some of the most popular starting points include Bynea, Sandy Water Park, North Dock, and Burry Port. Each has its own charm, whether that’s restaurants and bars, cosy cafés, or little kiosks where you can grab an ice cream. And if you’re in the mood for something a bit stronger, you’ll find that too!
Along the way, you’ll find plenty of spots to pause and refuel. At North Dock, St Elli’s Bay is perfect for a coffee, ice cream with a view, while The Sandpiper at Sandy Water Park is a local favourite for a bite to eat or drink. If you’re joining from Pwll, the Pavilion Café is a lovely little stop, and over at Burry Port you’ve got a handy coffee stand right by the access point, plus the Burry Port Yacht Club down at the harbour. Wherever you hop on, there’s always a treat waiting nearby.

WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre – Nature at Its Best
Just a little further from Bynea Past the Gateway Holiday Park is the stunning WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre – a 450-acre wonderland full of birds, reedbeds, lakes and seasonal wildlife.
Whether you’re in the hides spotting rare species or letting the kids run wild in the play areas, it’s a fab place to reconnect with nature.
There’s also a cosy café, Kingfisher Kitchen, with barista coffee, Welsh cakes and local treats, and every penny you spend helps support conservation.
St. Elli’s Bay & Llanelli Beach – Perfect for a Pit Stop
As the path curves towards Llanelli Beach, you’ll find St. Elli’s Bay – a sweet little bistro and shop serving ice creams, chilled drinks, and coffees. Sit down, relax, and soak up those sweeping coastal views.
Sandy Water Park & The Sandpiper
Just around the corner is Sandy Water Park, complete with a scenic lake and the much-loved Sandpiper Brewers Fayre. It’s ideal for a sit-down meal or a refreshing drink – especially if you’ve been clocking up the miles on your bike!
Burry Port – Harbour Views & Amelia Earhart
As you roll into Burry Port, the path opens out into a beautiful harbour with bobbing boats and a quaint little lighthouse.
Fun fact – this is where Amelia Earhart landed after becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic in 1928!
Grab a drink at the Burry Port Yacht Club or simply enjoy a walk along the marina
Pembrey Country Park – The Perfect Finish or Start
The final stretch, or perhaps the very beginning of your adventure, leads you into the brilliant Pembrey Country Park. This huge parkland has something for everyone.
You have peaceful forest walks, miles of golden sandy beach, open spaces for picnics, and plenty of play areas for the kids to run wild.
For those after a bit of adventure, there’s even a dry ski slope and a toboggan run, not to mention cycle hire and horse riding.
Whether you’re finishing your day with a well-earned stroll or starting fresh with a full list of things to do, Pembrey is the perfect spot to soak up the outdoors and make some lasting memories.

Yes! There are train stations at Bynea, Llanelli, and Burry Port, and several bus services run nearby, including the 110/111, X11, X12, 195, and 196. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to do a little walking or cycling from the stations or stops to reach the main access points along the path.
If you’re looking for a family-friendly meal, you can’t go wrong with The Sandpiper, The Gateway Resort, or St Elli’s Bay.
